STORAGE DEVICES
Storage Devices used to store the data permanently. There are several types of storage devices for computers. Such as Magnetic storage and Optical storage device, see below different type of storage:

Magnetic Storage devices: It is made up of magnetic material. For example floppy devices, and hard disk drives.

Optical Storage devices: Optical devices are very compact and inexpensive. The PC reads data from optical devices with the help of a laser beam. For example, CD-ROM, and DVD.

I think you know digital cameras and memory cards; both are one types of storage device which is called Solid-State Storage devices. These devices are very light and small in size. The speed of operation is high in solid-state storage devices.

CHIP SET
A chipset is a collection of chips that perform interface and peripheral functions for the processor. The functions of chipsets we can be divided into two major functional groups, called Northbridge and Southbridge.

BIOS AND CMOS CHIP
Basic Input Output System (BIOS) is a non-volatile memory and software that tells the processor how to interact with the rest of the hardware in the computer and it keep configuration information about the PC. CMOS is a special type of memory that holds the BIOS configuration settings.

RTC (REAL TIME CLOCK)
Real Time Clock chip keeps date, day and time in a 24 hour format just likes your watch. The PC uses this clock to 'time stamp' files as they are created and modified. When you print a file it time stamps the pages as they are printed.

INPUT/OUTPUT DEVICE
The input/output peripherals allow the computer to communicate with the outside world. The most common types of I/O devices are following:

Keyboard: The keyboard is an Input device and it is used to type something or input information to the computer. Today different designs and models of the keyboards available and the most common layout of the keyboard is QWERTY layout. A standard keyboard has 101 keys.

Mouse: The Mouse is an Input device and it used for faster operations on computer. Generally a mouse has two buttons left and right to perform different functions. One type of the mouse has a round ball under the bottom. Another type of the mouse use optical system to track the movement of the mouse.

Monitor: The Monitor is an Output device and it used to display the information on the screen. Monitors come in many sizes, shapes, and colors. Today most computers use LCD (Liquid Cristal Display) screens. It is light weight and consumes less power as compared to the CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) monitors.

Printer: The Printer is an Output Device and it used to information from the PC and transfers it to the paper of different sizes, which are placed in the printer device. There are three basic types of a printer such as dot matrix, inkjet and laser.

SYSTEM CASE
The Case also called chassis; it protects and organizes all the components that make up your computer. Today several types of cases are available, such as Mini Tower, Mid-Size Tower, and Full-Sized Tower. The case consist several parts such as: top cover panel, power cord plug, I/O connector ports, power supply and fan, external and internal drive bays, lead etc.

CARDSCards are the hardware components that are added to the computer to increase their functionalities and capabilities. There are deferent types of card such as following:

Video cards: Video cards allow computer to display video, graphics and animation. Some video cards allow computers to display television.

Network cards: Network interface cards allow PCs to connect with each other and communicate. Every network computer is required to have a NIC card. NIC cards are required both in wired and wireless networking.

Sound Card: Sound cards produce the sound like music and voice. It has several components that contribute to the production of sound on the speakers.

POWER SUPPLY
The power supply is one of the most components of a computer and it most cases already installed. The power supply main functions are a converting alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC). The power supply is consisting power cable and it provide power for each component of computer.

I/O PORTS AND CABLES
The I/O Ports and cables connect the input and output devices to the PC. The most common types of I/O are Serial, Parallel, and USB as well as today available different types of cables, such as Shielded Twisted Pair (STP), Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP), and fiber optic cables.

MODEM
Modem is a device that modulates and demodulates information between two devices across a network. It is a device that sends digital information across a telephone network. Modem is an abbreviation for modulator/demodulator. Modem translates the data from digital to analog from analog to digital. Because on the telephone lines data can travel in the form of the analog signals and in the computer data transmits in the form of digital signals. Modems are measured by the speed which is called baud rate. The typical baud rate is 56Kb.
